New Songs + Kind Reviews..!!

Hi yu'all...

Here's a couple of unsolicited (but flattering) comments we received... very encouraging.!!

Wow. After all the wading about through Aussie music I have done in the creation of this site and there are still many, many major, magnificent bands out there. Mississippi Shakedown is one of them.

Brilliant is the single best word to describe them. Their music reeks of "down south" blues/soul/rock. Start with a touch of Z.Z. Top, throw in some soul, a dash of Gospel and a nod to past blues masters such as Muddy Waters and B.B.King, and you close.

Aussie music is second to none in the world, and these guys show just how much scope we have here.

Mississippi Shakedown's energy, humour and originality were really popular this year.

With aforesaid award winning producer Jeff Cripps on slide guitars, new member Wayne Leffler (mandolin, harp, guitar, vocals), John Gannon (bass) and Derek Smith on drums, the Band's light touch and variety make them a perfect for a party, because that's what everywhere they played turned into. They are still inspired by the Allman Brothers, but originals including Use It or You'll Lose It ('Cause Baby I'll be Using Mine) and One Door Shuts, Another Door Slams, brought grins all round.

Us Misipi lads have been pretty busy lately, what with the early year doing Festivals + Gigs and Jeff going to the U.S. again and meeting with Record Company C.E.O's and stuff.

We've also had a bit of a "spurt" of songwriting and we've got 6 new songs that we've Demoed and are happy with for the 5th C.D. which we promise will have a shorter title than the last one. It could end up being called "5".. that'd be easier.
